The sound of connection in the forest— On June 21st we got to honour and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day by hiking the Lone Cone Trail on Meares Island (Wah-nuh-jus – Hilth-hoo-is) in partnership with @ahous_adventures @mhss_stewardship, this was such a special day.
The Lonecone trail is raw and rugged and each branch feels like it was made to support you along the steep way up. Life isn’t always about the view but rather about the journey. Searching for/ finding peace and acceptance in all moments. Although we didn’t get the view we were hoping for we got to enjoy amazing company, embrace the feeling of being immersed in lush forests and celebrate the beauty of the land.
Wowwwwwwwww WHAT A RIDE🌟 The first Coastal Yeehaw Half took place on June 14th in beautiful Tofino BC. We had over 100 runners, so much local support and energy. For many, this was their very FIRST half marathon and race experience! Our goal with the Yeehaw Half is to create a welcoming, unsanctioned run that brings our community closer, giving everyone the chance to meet like-minded folks. There is no winner — it’s all for YOU. Still buzzing from the energy of this day—matching bandanas, cowbells, pots and pans, water station hype, beautiful beach run. Can't wait to see you next year!
As a group of 20 we got to go to Clayoquot Island Preserve! Together, we removed two truck loads full of plastic marine debris from the Island. The total weight of what we collected was 551 lbs! We collected 175 plastic bottles, 34 fishing floats, 1 crab trap, 2 oyster baskets, and about 6 large bathtubs worth of polystyrene foam!!
Despite challenging, blizzard-like conditions, our group successfully completed an introductory backcountry tour led by Mountain Skill Academy, learning about weather, gear, and route planning. We ended the amazing day in the mountains with a warm apres-ski gathering, thanks to supportive guides and participants.
